"Bloodroot" by Amy Greene
Product Description(Amazon.com)
Myra Lamb is a wild girl with mysterious, haint blue eyes who grows up on remote Bloodroot Mountain. Her grandmother, Byrdie, protects her fiercely and passes down “the touch” that bewitches people and animals alike. But when John Odom tries to tame Myra, it sparks a shocking disaster, ripping lives apart. Bloodroot is the dark and riveting story of the legacies—of magic and madness, faith and secrets, passion and loss—that haunt one family across the generations.

MY THOUGHTS: This is my book clubs pick for March. I really enjoyed reading this story. And that's the way it's written. Each character in the book is telling their own story. Byrdie, Doug, Myra, John, Laura, Johnny. And their stories all connect some way. Byrdie is the grandmother of Myra. Doug is the neighbor boy who falls in love with Myra. John is the man Myra marries. Laura and Johnny are the twins Myra has. Each one is telling their story and their lives on and around Bloodroot Mountain and it's pull on their lives. I was totally surprised and happy about the ending to this story. The author wrote this book so that all the connections come together at the end. And the surprise ending is how they all are connected. If your looking for a very riveting story with really great characters this is the book. I highly recommend it.

MY RATING: 8-12

Sherrie -

A friend at work just recently read this book and loved it and then loaned it to another friend, who will most likely be mentioning it in our video post tonight! I'm also planning on reading it before it gets back to the owner.

Feel free to stop by the blog in the next day or so to see if we mention it in our video!
